Flickr: the world's photo album

Flickr: the world's photo album - Telegraph: "Perhaps the rest of us will only properly appreciate Flickr in a hundred years' time. 'For the last two years,' says Kakul Srivastava, 'I've been able to find a photo of a sunrise over Mount Fuji pretty much every day. So while Flickr is very much about timely photos – an event happens, we have the photos of it – it's also about timeless photos.' For all its density and all its banality, its 500,000 kittens and its 160,000 tulips, it may end up becoming one of the great social documents of the 21st century."

l dynamic range correction

Feature: Apical dynamic range interview: Digital Photography Review: "At its most simple, what our algorithms do is called dynamic range compression - trying to render extremes of light and dark in the way that the human eye would interpret them,' he explains. As it turns out, the company's starting point was human vision, rather than digital imaging: it was originally spun-out from a research group working on modeling biological imaging systems. 'The human eye is highly adaptive to light, and is able to interpret great extremes of light and dark,' says Tusch: 'The main thrust of that work was developing algorithms that could model the human visual system and the researchers realized that some aspects of that could be applied to digital image processing.'"

Feather’s Photographs - Animal Art « The View From the (AP) Studio Door: "The following images (except the image of Feather herself) were created “by” Feather, Ted Orland’s lovable cat. She prefers the $49 “Pet’s Eye View” digital camera. This collar mounted camera makes a maximum of 40 - 640 x 480 pixel pictures. The camera can be set to automatically take a picture every 1, 5, or 15 minutes.

“It’s really FUN to collect the camera at the end of the day and see where she’s been!” - Ted Orland"
